Replace Transformer and Switch at PM7020 – Pt. Mugu

NAVAL AIR STATION POINT MUGU, CALIFORNIA

Contract Value: $618,000.00

Category: Dry Utility

  • Project managed the design and build of a new 1,000KVA FR3, oil filled, transformer and 1600A, 480/277V three-phase switchboard lineup with ION-8650 electronic meter and CAT-5 antenna.  New temporary generator connection board, with neutral disconnect links for testing purposes, was designed and installed to provide redundant and ease of connection means of reliable power to PM7020.  The work included intercepting a 16.5KV overhead line with fused cutouts and installing new 25kV rated EPR conductors through a series of manholes approximately 800 ft away from the service entrance including a 200 ft section of new underground utility infrastructure.
  • The new transformer and switchboard were kept in environmentally-controlled and newly renovated rooms within PM7020.   All electrical equipment enclosures were painted stainless steel to prevent corrosion due to the close proximity to coastal waters.

Relevant Project Experience:

  • Design Build, Medium Voltage Electrical Distribution,  Underground and Overhead Electrical Distribution, Switchgear and Transformer Installation, Concrete and Rebar Installation, and Outage Logistics and Planning.
